Madeline Kalivoda - Account Manager

Landscape Industry Since: 2019
Signature Landscape Since: 2021
Madeline grew up in Independence, a small town in southeast Kansas. Her interest in horticulture began in high school with a tour of Kansas State University’s horticulture program. Shortly after that, she helped renovate her family’s deck and landscape, transforming it from an unused space into a beautiful useable outdoor haven complete with plants, décor, lighting, and a fire pit. It was around this time that Madeline also worked at a nearby Kansas state park. The KSU horticulture tour combined with these two outdoor, plant-centered activities lead led her to realize her love for plants. Transitioning into college at Kansas State University, a degree in horticulture was the clear path.
While at KSU, Madeline grew her passion for plant identification, interior plantscaping, and plant physiology. She participated in a horticultural study abroad, traveling though Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France, touring commercial greenhouse systems, vineyards, and famous botanical gardens. She also interned on the east end of Long Island, New York with a residential landscaping company. There, she worked on a grounds maintenance team and in the nursery. She says “this experience taught me about the long, hard work that goes into building landscapes, as well as exposing me to the challenges and benefits of high-end lawn care.”
After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Horticulture Production, Madeline worked for a local greenhouse in Manhattan for about a year as an Assistant Grower. When it came to plant-care, she pruned, transplanted, watered, fertigated, weeded, filled flats, and propagated – everything needed to keep the plants growing and at full health. She also made soil-less media for growing and performed maintenance on the greenhouse structure.
In 2021, Madeline began working as an Account Manager at Signature Landscape. Madeline feels passionately about quality management practices within the landscape to ensure safety, sustainability, and client satisfaction. She enjoys seeing bare, green spaces transformed into beautiful landscapes through hard work.
Outside of work, Madeline and her husband Dakota love trying new coffee shops together and connecting with friends in their church. Madeline has a large collection of houseplants and enjoys doting over them in the evenings.
