City Center Lenexa Association

At the geographic center of Lenexa, a new community is arising; one where the citizens can live, work, play, eat, and shop, all within walking distance. Now, people will no longer have to move or travel to the urban core of Kansas City for an urban experience. The new City Center Lenexa (CCL) will be for those seeking this experience. Along with thriving development within this new neighborhood, “other neighboring properties and parks will benefit with higher values and desire to develop on the part of investors,” says CCL property manager, Lonnie Stump. “It will shift the epicenter of commerce to the west,” with the area having easy access from Interstate 435.

The Lenexa community began to develop a vision and plan for this project in 1997. The city’s existing downtown did not have room for expansion, so they chose the current site of CCL to build their dream. The area was to include mixed-use construction, walkable neighborhood, and an urban destination with retail, restaurant options, services, parks, living options, and civic components. Today, the project is well on its way to completion, and is already bustling with people!

City Center Lenexa is unique, as downtowns go, in that it has “more landscaping and turf than traditional downtown districts,” says Lonnie. This is where Signature Landscape comes in, partnering with CCL Association since 2015 to maintain the high standards of landscaping this area requires. Signature’s team performs mowing, turf applications, shrub pruning, perennial cutbacks, plant bed weed control, mulching, and irrigation services. All of these services keep the landscape well-maintained for all of the people living, working, or visiting the community to enjoy.

CCL is still a developing area, “there will be a lot of eyes on this community for the next couple of years and landscaping is one of the first things they’ll see, so it will have a high impact,” says Lonnie. He works directly with Signature’s Account Manager for the CCL Association. Together, they work to ensure Signature’s grounds maintenance services are performed to expectations.
