Brooke McVicker - Landscape Designer
Landscape Industry Since: 1985
Signature Landscape Since: 2021
Brooke grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska, in the Horticulture/Landscape Design program. She started her career in Horticulture in Interior Plantscaping in Denver, Colorado. After three years she moved back to Lincoln Nebraska where she purchased and ran her own Interior Plantscaping business. She later worked at the Department of Agriculture as a Nursery Inspector and as the Case Review Officer in the Pesticide Division.
Brooke and her family decided to take a big leap and move to Canberra, Australia with her husband’s company. They lived “down under” for four years, in Australia’s capitol city, where she was able to explore landscapes and vegetation very different than the Midwest.
After eventually ending up in Kansas City in 2006, she became a Johnson County Master Gardener. This helped her keep up to date on current best practices in the industry, and she was able to be around like-minded people who enjoy being outdoors and gardening. She spent most of her volunteering at K-States Research Facility with the Back Yard Garden program.
Next, Brooke worked at Family Tree Nursery at their growing facility. Part of her job was receiving plant material from all over the world, which provided insight into the amount of work that goes into growing annuals. Brooke worked for four years at KAT Wholesale Outdoor – Olathe, as an Account Manager, which connected her with many local landscape companies. This allowed her to work closely with companies in the selection and acquisition of plant material.
In 2021, Brooke joined Signature’s team as a Landscape Designer, bringing extensive experience in the green industry, exceptional creativity and strong local plant knowledge. She is happy to be part of the Signature team, where excellence is the standard.
During her free time, Brooke likes to be outdoors biking, running, gardening and playing with her grandson at the park.
