Luis Velazco - Landscape Superintendent
Landscape Industry Since: 2001
Signature Landscape Since: 2003
Luis began working in landscaping in 2001 in Denver, Colorado at a landscape and irrigation company. In 2003 Luis came to Kansas City and began working at Signature Landscape in the Horticulture Department. After one year, he moved to the Construction Department, where he worked for nine years. In this department, he enjoyed being involved in all of the processes after design including – initial construction, modifications to a job, and putting the finishing touches on projects. It was during this time that he began to develop as a crew leader. Luis then learned irrigation installation and maintenance and became a Certified Irrigation Technician. He was promoted to the position of Irrigation Technician for the West Branch, where he worked for four years.
In 2017, Luis returned to construction as Landscape Superintendent, continuing to develop his communication skills as a leader, managing multiple installation crews and ensuring high quality in all jobs installed. In this role, Luis enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge of construction with his crews as he continually helps them develop their skills. What satisfies Luis most about his work is being able to see the job complete – the end result of all of his and his crews’ labors.
Some of Luis’ pastimes are traveling with his wife Rocio and four daughters, Gisela, Aylin, Citalli and Suhey to visit beaches, parks, and special places in Mexico. He also loves watching movies with his family and taking them to restaurants.
